The new Pure Blue Japan XX-019 embodies the level of craftsmanship fans have grown to expect from the acclaimed Japanese brand. The jean is cut in a new silhouette that offers a bit more room in the seat and thigh, finished with a strong taper below the knee. It’s definitely not loose, but the cut does provide a bit more room in the top block, courtesy of a longer rise and wider thigh. The fabric is similarly new — PBJ’s proprietary 13.8oz Nep Selvedge denim, featuring an uneven texture with a noticeable “nep” of indigo tufts that are visible on the face and back side of the material. The brand’s signature blue selvedge line and deerskin leather patch round out the details.
