Little House on the Ferry by GO Logic is a seasonal guesthouse in Vinalhaven, an island off the coast of Maine in Penobscot Bay. New England-based GO Logic specializes in energy-efficient prefabricated homes, and the Little House is made up of three micro cabins connected by a web of outdoor decks, hovering on piers above a former quarry. The structures themselves comprise a living and dining cabin, along with two separate sleeping cabins, each with its own bedroom and bathroom. Considerations for cost effectiveness and sustainability led to the use of prefabricated cross-laminated timber (CLT) panels, each made with layers of lumber laminated together in a solid, bidirectional sandwich. They form the entire enclosure for each building, spanning the floors, walls and roofs, and they ultimately maintain the minimalist form and simple material palette of the cabins.
