Ressence is known for its unique dial designs, and the even more unique ways in which those dials move. Things are toned down a bit for the new Type 1 Squared, which Ressence describes as its first dress watch. It’s also the first watch from the Belgian watchmaker to sport a cushion-shaped case, and also the first to be made from stainless steel. Wearability is promoted by a sleek and slim design, featuring a case diameter of 41mm and a case thickness of 11.5mm. Similar to other Ressence watches, the new model has no crown, and instead relies on a unique case back winding system and a small retractable lever to set the time and day. On the dial — available in silver, ruthenium, night blue or champagne — a series of discs indicate the time and day of the week. Ressence’s ETA-2824 automatic movement was chosen for its high levels of torque.
