JUNCTURE

Engineered Garments Fall 2017 Collection

During New York Fashion Week: Men’s, designer Daiki Suzuki took the wraps off the Engineered Garments Fall 2017 collection. The NYC brand has developed a cult following over the years, and from season to season, its acolytes are presented with designs that seem to exist on a continuum. There are no new overarching themes with the unveiling of new collections; rather, EG is an ongoing work in progress, with evolving design tweaks that keep loyal fans coming back for more every season. Fall 2017 saw a procession of traditional menswear looks, featuring suiting and coats constructed from heavy grey wools finished in classic pinstripes and argyle. Predictably, a strong workwear undercurrent was conspicuous throughout the range, seen in the overalls, long aprons and patchwork motifs, recalling a time when the NYC economy was supported by hard-working tradesmen and laborers.
