The Yamaha YZF-R1 Lazareth Motorcycle has a backstory that’s as compelling as its eye-catching futuristic design. The bike was originally customized by Frenchman Ludovic Lazareth ten years ago for Babylon A.D., the sci-fi flick starring Vin Diesel, and it’s since gone another extensive revision after it was wrecked on set. The biggest difference is a new chassis, one that now features a swing-arm setup at both sides, and a 17″ Triumph Daytona 955 rear wheel in between. There are also custom shocks from TFX Suspension, and a new floating linkage system at the back. Additional details include Brembo brakes, an LED taillight, and a new seat that rests in line with the extended exhaust. While Lazareth maintains that the R1 handles like a typical street bike, there’s nothing about the design that can be termed “typical.”
