Imbued with elements that draw from the ’80s and retro sci-fi elements, the Freemans Sporting Club Spring/Summer 2017 collection is showcased through a seasonal lookbook shot on location on Coney Island’s iconic boardwalk. Various pieces take inspiration from the 1985 classic film Back to the Future, with overt references to the cinematic fan favorite seen in DeLorean graphic tees and custom printed shirting, while the “Biff” suede jacket is a sly allusion to the throwback style of Marty McFly’s arch nemesis. Additional ’80s callouts are seen in the distinctive color palette, which pairs a stark black-and-white backdrop with graphic splashes of vintage wash teal and purple. The collection is rounded out by unstructured casual suiting, pigment dyed knits and lightweight outerwear.
