JayKay Electric Longboard

The best thing about the JayKay Electric Longboard is its ordinariness. That is to say, it looks like a typical non-motorized longboard. That’s because the German outfit managed to stuff all the electronic components — as well as the electric motor and even the battery — into the board’s custom-made truck. Riders can expect a top speed up to 30 km/h (18.6 mph) and a range of 12 km (7.5 mi). A patented winding mechanism allows for freewheeling, while regenerative braking will do its part to expand the range. The interchangeable battery can be charged inductively or via the universal USB Type C connector, with a quick charge taking an hour and a battery-save charge requiring 3 hours. Finally, riders can wirelessly control the board with a clip, which attaches to a watch strap or wrist band. Onboard sensors register finger movements and send the gesture control data via Bluetooth to the e-truck. An accompanying app for iOS or Android offers smartphone control and system performance information. Expect JayKay to launch a Kickstarter campaign in May.
