One of the key collaborations from the NikeLab Vision-AIRS collection is the Marc Newson x NikeLab Air VaporMax, which continues the ongoing partnership between the Swoosh and the world-renowned industrial designer. For his take on Nike Air, Newson turned to the brand’s newest innovation, the VaporMax platform. “The overwhelming emotion when you see this thing for the first time is tactile,” he says. “You want to touch it and squeeze it and figure out how it works.” The resulting shoe marries VaporMax with an upper constructed from a blend of Flyknit and leather, creating what Newson calls a “wonderful cultural juxtaposition”: the cross stitch speaks to traditional handcraft, while the knit and sole unit are the products of highly technical innovation. The kicks are expected to launch on March 26th.
