At this week’s Geneva Motor Show, the Mercedes-AMG GT Concept was unveiled as a potential rival to the Porsche Panamera. A four-door version of the Mercedes-AMG GT, the vehicle generates 805-horsepower from its hybrid drivetrain, derived from the W08 EQ Power+ from the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport Formula 1 car. (Look for Mercedes to start using EQ Power+ branding for all performance-oriented hybrids going forward.) Specifically, there’s a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine and an electric motor located on the rear axle, with power channeled through Mercedes’ 4MATIC AWD system. The result is a 0 – 60 sprint time of less than three seconds, packaged in a gorgeous, aggressively styled silhouette. A production model is rumored to launch in 2019.
