The Toyota Hilux Tonka Concept is driven by nostalgia, as the design is inspired by the toy Tonka trucks we all played with as kids. The truck itself is based on the Australian version of the Toyota Hilux, an SR5 double cab powered by a 2.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine. Last year, the Hilux was ranked as the best selling vehicle in Australia, and this new concept, resplendent in classic black and yellow Tonka colors, was made in part to celebrate the achievement. It rides on 35-inch off-road tires, which combine with the upgraded suspension to increase the ride height by 6 inches. Additional revisions include an aggressive front bumper with a 6 mm thick skid plate, huge fender flares and new vents in the hood, alongside a massive LED light bar and a new tube frame in the bed to keep everything in place.
