Unveiled this week at the New York Auto Show, the Toyota FT-4X concept is an urban SUV aimed at millennial urban dwellers who enjoy an active lifestyle. The design, derived from Toyota’s Calty studio in Newport Beach, California, features a boxy silhouette with headlights and bumpers that pay homage to the Toyota FJ Land Cruise, and a removable window glass for enhanced configuring and styling. There’s also a GoPro camera mounted on the rearview mirror, hidden rear door handles, roof-mounted power outlets and a special bi-mode hatch. Additional nifty features include a removable audio system and a glove box surrounded by rotating air vents, capable of drying off wet clothing and gear. Finally, navigation is handled by the owner’s mobile phone, which fits into a socket atop the digital gauge cluster.
