Behind-The-Scenes Look Into Apple Park

First announced by Steve Jobs himself in 2006, Apple Park — the company’s new headquarters, highlighted by a 2.8 million-square-foot main office referred to as “The Ring” — is nearing completion. Apple recently invited Wired behind closed doors for an exclusive look at the state-of-the-art campus, located just a mile east of the current headquarters in Cupertino, California. Wired got the inside scoop about some of the unique design features found throughout, including a 100,000-square-foot fitness and wellness center that houses a two-story yoga room covered in stone, distressed to resemble Jobs’ favorite hotel in Yosemite. Also on the premises is the 1,000-seat Steve Jobs Theater, future home to Apple’s upcoming product launch events, and the Apple Cafe, which can serve up to 4,000 people at once and is accessible through two glass doors measuring four stories tall. Apple Park will also be eco-friendly, with 805,000 square feet of solar arrays and a total of 9,000 drought-tolerant trees dispersed throughout the grounds (which workers are still planting).
