The Nike Unlimited Stadium in Manila is a pop-up arena that’s been described as the world’s first full-size LED running track. Designed by BBH Singapore, the structure spans an entire city block, with a layout made to resemble the footprint of Nike’s LunarEpic running shoe. The defining feature is a 200-meter track, made in a figure-eight configuration lined with a series of LED screens. Up to 30 runners can undertake a virtual race against themselves, which involves setting an initial lap time through a sensor attached to each athlete’s shoe. Afterward, participants can subsequently compete with their avatar running alongside them on the continuous LED screens.
