JUNCTURE

One-Millionth Porsche 911

This week the one-millionth Porsche 911 rolled off the assembly line at the automaker’s factory in Zuffenhausen, some 54 years after the first one. The car is a rear-wheel-drive 911 Carrera S, finished in a striking Irish Green hue with details that hark back to its original ancestor. They’re seen in the classic design touches inside the cabin, like houndstooth inserts on the seats and wood accents on the steering wheel and dash. Under the hood is a flat-six engine putting out 450 horsepower, connected to a seven-speed manual gearbox with three pedals. The car will embark on a world tour — including stops in the USA and China — before it settles into its final resting place at the Porsche Museum.
