Certified as a passive house — which means it earns the gold standard for energy efficiency in construction — the Kiss House is a prefabricated dwelling that ships in a series of panels, allowing it to be transported as a “flatpack.” Once delivered on site, the Kiss House can be assembled atop a prepared concrete slab anywhere in the world, through a process that takes just three or four days. The Kiss House is the product of a collaboration between UK Passivhaus specialist Mike Jacob and award-winning architect Adrian James, and it’s offered in two, three and four bedroom versions, all built with cross-laminated timber. Each Kiss unit is created and designed to suit the individual owner’s needs, and as such, pricing is wholly dependent on the bespoke specifications. As a rough price guide, a fully fitted Kiss House in the UK costs approximately £2,000 ($2,550) per square meter.
