McLaren 570S Spider

With the new McLaren 570S Spider, the luxury British automaker adds to its line of “attainable” supercars. It packs a 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V8 under the hood, mated to a seven-speed transmission and good for 562 horsepower with 443 pound-feet of torque. The 570S Spider is said to be just as quick as its fixed-roof sibling, able to hit to 62 mph in 3.2 seconds. (With the roof up, it’ll attain a top speed of 204 mph; down, it reaches 196 mph.) The integrated retractable roof can be lowered or raised in as little as 15 seconds, at speeds of up to 25 mph, and the hardtop adds just 101 lbs to the weight of the car. Much of the features from the 570S coupe is carried over to the Spider, including the three different driving modes (Normal, Sport and Track), as well as the carbon-ceramic brakes and suspension setup. Some of the differences take the form of a rear spoiler that’s half an inch taller than the coupe’s, along with three new paint colors — Curacao blue, Vega blue and Sicilian yellow — and an optional 10-spoke wheel design. Priced at $208,800, the 2018 McLaren 570S Spider will begin delivery in August.
