Billed as the world’s first luxury submarine, the Neyk Submarine is made for would-be Cousteaus who don’t want to sacrifice personal comfort while plumbing the ocean’s depths. It took eight years for Ocean Submarine of the Netherlands to develop the vessel, with collaborative help from Rolls-Royce, MTU, and Bosch. The resulting 63-foot Neyk is crafted from modular steel and features a modern teardrop shape. It’s capable of reaching speeds of 15 knots and depths of 150 meters (nearly 500 feet), and the interior is built to the same diameter as a private aircraft. Inside, up to 12 passengers can enjoy the scenery through large panoramic viewports up top and three acrylic viewports on either side, as well as a bar, library and complete galley. A scale prototype is expected to launch in January 2018.
