Representing the brand’s next generation of pedal-assisted two-wheeler, the Specialized Turbo Vado Electric Bike arrives with a host of technical and structural upgrades. They include moving the motor from the rear hub to the bottom bracket, which subsequently allows for the use of a standard rear wheel, cleaning up the general appearance while also improving stability and weight balance. Riders have control over the system through the BLOKS cycling computer, offered in two versions — a standard LCD and a higher-end TFT touch screen — that links to the the bike’s electronics by slotting into a wired connection, or via a mobile app through Bluetooth. Finally, the Vado is lighter by about 1.5kg (3.3lb), partially achieved by switching to larger, and fewer, battery cells, and an optimized frame design.
