The 2018 Ford Mustang GT will be the fastest GT ever, thanks to a new 5.0-liter V8, generating 460 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque (compared to 435 hp and 400 lb-ft for the 2017 Mustang). Byers can opt for the new 10-speed automatic transmission, complete with drag-strip mode that manages the drivetrain electronically so torque doesn’t drop as the transmission runs quickly though its gears. Add in the optional Performance Pack — along with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S tires — and the GT can sprint from 0-60 mph in under 4.0 seconds, matching the official time of the Chevy Camaro SS. Pricing will become available as we near the car’s launch in the fall.
