The nanamica Spring/Summer 2017 lookbook amply demonstrates what the Tokyo-based brand does best, which is to fuse a minimalist, timeless aesthetic with technical materials and everyday functionality. Travel is a prominent theme that inspires the apparel, which means that pieces have to be lightweight, durable and versatile, exemplified by the brand’s range of Gore-Tex outerwear, which is waterproof, breathable and easily packable for easy stowing. Even the 100% cotton pieces are rain resistant, featuring long fibers from India constructed in a high-density weave, making it impenetrable against the occasional downpour. The color palette hews toward neutral shades, made up mostly of black, white, navy and grey hues, executed on modern silhouettes with slightly dropped shoulders on the tops and slim, tapered legs on the trousers. The overall aesthetic is one of balance, ease of use and simple elegance.
