Located in the Swedish village of Harads, the Treehotel is the ultimate vision of every child’s dream lodging. The complex was founded by a married couple in 2010, who gave free reign to various leading Scandinavian architects to design a series of seven eco-conscious free-standing treerooms. Each is suspended 13 to 20 feet off the ground, offering views of the forest and nearby Lule River. Some of the more unique structures include the Mirrorcube, with specially treated glass walls that reflect the surrounding foliage; the Bird’s Nest, which essentially resembles a giant version of its namesake; and a tree house shaped like a large UFO that sleeps four.
